wonderful September kit from LRS. Did I mention how nicely coordinated
this kit is? I think it's one of my favorite kits so far!

This
first layout is of our friends' daughter, Olivia. It has a lot of
embellishment layering and machine stitching and I let the background
patterned paper do most of the work for me!

Layout
number two is of me taken during my very first half marathon earlier
this year. I don't often add memorabilia items to my layouts but I
decided to add my number to commemorate the occasion. This is one of
those bucket list items that I can check off that I may never do again! Thanks Rebecca for the push...(ahem) I mean encouragement. LOL
I altered the alphas with paint to match them to my layout.

My
final layout "Family volleyball champs" is of my sister-in-laws and
friends taken at a family get-together last summer. Whenever we're all
together there's always some sort of competition between the guys and
gals. This time it happened to be a volleyball game that gals
won...well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Anyway, more
stitching, more embellishment layering, and more altered letters on this
layout. So much fun!

Just wanted to pop in real quick to share my first project using the LRS September kit featuring Amy Tangerine's "Cut & Paste" line. This is a super easy line to scrapbook with and before I knew it, I had 4 layouts done!

Here's the first layout using a photo of Gabe taken last fall at the pumpkin patch...

Kit ProjectsIt's that time of the month for me to share my Little Red Scrapbook Co. July kit projects!! I loved working with this month's kit featuring Echo Park Paper Co.'s "Beautiful Life" Line-- and did I tell you about all of the amazing embellishments? Feathers, journaling cards, and wooden rulers, oh my!

My first project is of Tanner and Gabe. The photo's were taken at Jaron's graduation last summer and it really shows what a special relationship they have. They may be 11 years apart but you would never know it by the way they play...ha-ha. This layout shows the versatility of the kit!

And one of my BFF scrapping buddies on our yearly trip to the Scrapbook Manor in Walworth, WI. Love that place and love that it's in a central location so we can all meet in the middle!
The June kit features My Mind's Eye- Kate & Co. line, which is gorgeous! The colors are bright and bold with lots of pink, yellow and turquoise. Not my typical colors to scrap with but loved how my projects turned out!

The first layout is of my friend Kathy. Kathy follows my blog so I want to say a quick Hi to her..."Hi Mo!"...Anyway, I took these photos of her and her butterflies on a recent hike we took to the Camp Sherman area. The butterflies were amazing that day. They fluttered all around us and one even landed on my hand. It was truly magical.

Gabe is my subject for the next layout. It shows how versatile this kit is because I was able to use mist and the brown papers to create a masculine layout. I also used the package insert from my Studio Calico hexagon stencil as a background for my photo. It matched perfectly!

The final layout is of our puppy, Tootie. She is a little stinker and finally almost out of the puppy stage. We love her but it's been a lonnngggg 7 months. LOL.

The last project for the month is a card using pink! Yes, I actually created a project with pink...and loved it!

Sara always has the most amazing kits and this month is no exception! She picked a fabulous line to kick it off with because who doesn't love October Afternoon?! The "Travel Girl" line is so bright and fun, not to mention versatile enough to use for cards and masculine layouts as well. Here's the kit...don't ya just love it?!

I was able to get two layouts and one card out of this kit and still have plenty left over for more projects. The first layout is of our little niece Ruby June. The JilliBean Soup circle cardstock was perfect for layering to create a quick and easy layout.

The second layout I created really shows off the versatility of this kit. I used the more masculine papers for a layout of my boys riding the bumper cars at the State Fair last year. I used the fun pattern papers to create arrows to continue the theme of the "Directions" patterned paper-- and even added some machine stitching and doodling to this one. Love how it turned out!

My final project is a card using the "Post Card" and "Subway Token" papers. Everything is from the kit but the star stickers.

We've been so busy these past few months that I missed showing you my August LRS kit projects. Once again the August kit was wonderful and I really did some fun projects with it:
It features Echo Park's "Sweet Day" line and the embellishments are perfectly coordinated to go with it. I was able to create 4 layouts and still have plenty left over to do more!

The first layout I created for Karrie's sketch challenge using a fabulous Pagemaps sketch. I love the pinwheel embellishments!

This layout is my favorite from the kit. I had so much fun cutting out all of the honeycomb blocks and popping them up to add dimension.

The next two layouts are of our trips to Moolack beach this year. We've been there twice and both times found some pretty cool shell fossils. We love to explore that beach!

I missed blogging about yesterday's travels as we spent a lovely evening with Kathy's friends Carol and Paul. Paul was kind enough to tour me through the flower beds and garden on their lovely property while Carol made us an amazing dinner. A warm thank you to my new friends.

So yesterday. Yesterday was another one of those overwhelming days of absolute beauty. After Kathy humored me (once again) and let me climb the Rocky steps at the Philadelphia Art Museum and pose with the Rocky Statue, we toured Longwood Gardens. Longwood Gardens date back to the 1700's but the biggest contributor was Pierre du Pont, who was an industrialist, conservationist, and farmer. You can read more about the gardens here.

This place was spectacular. There were so many flowers in bloom including many that aren't native to Oregon. I think the Wisteria was my favorite but the conservatory was amazing as well. We walked through the greenhouses for at least an hour and I'm still not sure we saw it all!

Here are some of the pictures...I'll start with Rocky since I enjoyed making an absolute fool of myself! ha-ha. The Philadelphia Art Museum is huge with a whole lot of steps!

Thanks for letting me share my vacation with you and a huge thank you to Kathy for sharing her city with me!Tammy Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533394544834185974noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4326455218513729573.post-39789510182147251072012-05-02T18:15:00.000-07:002012-05-02T18:15:40.051-07:00Day 4: ShoppingThe day here in Philly started out rainy and drizzly but it didn't slow down our sightseeing or shopping! We started the day by touring Kathy's old neighborhood and seeing the house she grew up in. Very nice.

It also wouldn't be a trip to the Philadelphia area without stopping by a Wawa. You all may know what a Wawa is but I didn't until I came here. A Wawa is like a 7 Eleven but has more of a selection and an automated food ordering system. Kathy showed me the ropes and now I can say I've been to a Wawa for breakfast.

Next stop on our journey was the Fonthill Museum and Tile Works. The mansion was gorgeous and constructed mostly of concrete. Many of the windows have been replaced with wood frames but you can still see some of the remaining concrete window frames. Very interesting gentleman, that Mr. Mercer, and apparently very afraid of a fire. Here is a picture of the mansion which is now a museum.
My favorite stop was the tile shop. Many, many beautiful tiles to choose from. I bought 3 and one included a 2012 commemorative tile with chickens on it. Imagine that...love my chickens! :)

Next stop was shopping in New Hope. New Hope is a quaint little town filled with fun and intersting shops. I saw a ton of beautiful art and of course want to recreate it all when I get home. There was also many historic buildings there dating back to the 1700's. Wow.

We took a little break from shopping for Kathy to humor me and allow me to walk across the Delaware River to the dark side...New Jersey. She was convinced that I would end up with big hair and start talking funny if I did it. I guess it was a good thing I had my hair in a pony tail! Here is my bridge to New Jersey...

We spent the rest of the day touring the countryside and shopping in Peddler's Village in Lahaska, Pennsylvania. Lot's of fun shops and I even bought myself a tiny little german smoker-- but what I really wanted was one of those $1000 cuckoo clocks!

I'll leave you with a few of my favorite pictures of the countryside.
Don't you wish you were here?!
Tammy Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533394544834185974noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4326455218513729573.post-29839585321889647932012-05-01T18:46:00.001-07:002012-05-01T18:46:38.493-07:00Day 3!Can you say Italian Market and Lancaster County? Yep, that's what we did today. I truly think I can say I'm eating my way through Pennsylvania!

We started the day by visiting the 9th Street Italian Market which is one of the oldest outdoor markets in America. Even though the weather was a little drizzly, we still had an amazing time and my friend Kathy even got a marriage proposal. His claim to fame was that he was 42 years old; can sing and dance, and is house broken! He was adorable but unfortunately she wasn't having anything to do with that!!

Some of my favorites were the cheese and pasta shops, fresh produce stands, and of course the cheesesteak sandwiches. Here are a few pictures from the market:

Live poultry, oh my. These poor birds will be someones dinner! Aww, thank goodness it was stinky in there or I might have rescued a few.

...and to be true to Philadelphia, you must have a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. But which do you choose, Pat's or Geno's? They are across the street from each other and even Kathy's own family can't agree on which is the best. Today we chose Pat's since it's Kathy's favorite.

I've decided that there must be a taste test before I leave this city so that I can pick my favorite too...Geno's here I come!

Yes, there is also ordering etiquette. I let Kathy order for me since this whole thing is a little intimidating and she was able to hold her own, I might add.

Here's my steak... wit-out, provolone, no sauce. Yumm-o.

Next stop was Lancaster County. We tasted wines at the Twin Brook Winery and went through several antique shops which had wonderful items but extremely high priced compared to home. I also got my gawking in at horses and buggy's and picturesque farm land. What a beautiful place!

It can't be a trip to Amish country without at least trying Shoo-fly pie. We looked everywhere and not a Shoo-fly pie in sight until one of the last towns we visited, Goodville I believe. We finally got to try the regular and chocolate versions in a tart form along with a pumpkin whoopie pie. I can now go back to Central Oregon complete!

We started the day by visiting Independence Hall and touring through the Assembly Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed. We also visited the section of the Hall where congress met and saw some of the original furniture they used in the 1700's! Here are a few pics:

Next stop was the Liberty Bell. It's not as big as I thought it would be but boy is it impressive! I did get my picture taken by it but I'll save that one for the scrapbook!

On the way to the Betsy Ross House, we stopped by Ben Franklin's post office and print shop. The book store was closed but the print shop was very cool. They even print souvenirs on the old printing presses for a price, of course! They know a sucker from Oregon when they see one because they got me for $5.

The Betsy Ross House was very cool. You aren't actually supposed to take pictures in it but shhhh, I did it anyway. I tried not to use my flash and thank goodness no one kicked me out. The first picture is of the house which is very tiny.

The next two pictures are of the inside of her house. Her craft room looks very similar to mine...messy! lol. The final picture is of the granite step and walkway in the house. Very, very old and worn. Just amazing.
After visiting the Betsy Ross House and burial site, we walked over to the Christ Church Burial ground where Ben Franklin and four other Constitution signers are buried. It truly is a beautiful old cemetary and unfortunately many of the tombstones are so weathered you can't read the head stones any longer. Still worth the $2 to tour it.

Next stop China Town and then Reading Terminal for lunch and a little shopping. Reading Terminal is probably one of the coolest places to shop I've been in a very long time. I loved seeing all of the specialty foods and cheese, gifts, and fresh produce.

Ok, couple more stops and then this post will be done! he-he. After lunch we walked over to the Pennsylvania Hospital and took a self-guided tour of the historic library and the first surgical amphitheatre. It's hard to believe that they did surgery in that room with as many as 300 people watching the case. Not only did they not use sterile technique but for many of the years, they didn't even use anesthesia, except on women who they didn't think were as tough as men!

I am in absolute awe of the fabulous architecture of the row houses, the old buildings, and the beautiful city. Today we we toured around the Schuylkill River area, Valley Forge Park, and ate dinner in a fun little Irish pub in Manayunk. Here are a few pictures from our travels...

The beautiful Philly skyline
Washington's Headquarters at Valley Forge. We were able to tour the inside and saw the rooms set up how they think they may have looked back then. The kitchen was my favorite...especially the brick oven!

The next few pictures were taken at the Valley Forge Memorial Chapel. This is another one of those awe inspiring places!
And finally a few shots along the Schuylkill River. Boat House row was incredible as many of those buildings had dates from the 1800's on them. Earlier in the day we saw the rowing teams practicing on the river in the scull boats.
We've been practicing for weeks but the games officially begin next week. Gabe is on the Giants team coached by his dad and a few assistant coaches.

Here's to many, many nights of sitting on cold hard benches cheering the kids on...I wouldn't miss it for anything!
I've been asked by Sara at Little Red Scrapbook to be a guest designer for them this month, can you believe it? I love, love their kits and they are usually packed full of scrappy goodness.

The kit this month contains Pink Paislee's "Prairie Hill" Patterned papers and lots of other goodies, including a 1/2 yard of Honey Comb Trim aka...Punchinella! You know I love that stuff and use it in my mixed media art. Psst...You can't tell by the photo but I also added a little bit of paint to my layout. :)

If you haven't been to LRS, you should stop by...they are having a DT call right now and the deadline is quickly approaching!
I'm in love with the February Citrus Tree Studio kit that I'm working with because it's right up my alley, especially for boy layouts. The kit features KaiserCraft's Hunt & Gather line and is perfect for all of Gabe's fishing pictures from 2011.

Don't ya just love these peeks?
The full reveal will happen on February 5th so hop on over to Citrus Tree Studio to check out both kits!Tammy Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533394544834185974noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4326455218513729573.post-16424109280485910992012-01-05T20:10:00.000-08:002012-01-05T20:10:59.814-08:00Kit projectsI feel like such a slacker for not posting since Halloween...really, have I been that busy? The answer is yes. Although I really enjoyed spending time with family over the holidays, I just don't feel like I took much time to slow down and enjoy the everyday moments. Oh well, maybe next year. LOL

Thank goodness for Citrus Tree Studio and Cindy's ability to inpsire me with her kits. I created some fun projects in December with the "Blue Hills Meadow" kit and now in January with the "Forever Mine, Valentine" kit. You can find both of these kits here.

First, I'll show you my December projects as I really enjoyed the layouts I created with the kit. Early in December we took a family trip to cut Christmas trees. We spent the day hiking around the woods and roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over an open fire. It's fun to see what everyones definition of the perfect smore is! Such a special day with my parents, both older boys, and my brother's family.

This next project is actually a picture of Gabe taken over the 4th of July weekend. The paper, even though winter paper, is perfect for this photo in my opinion. I just love it.

Here are my projects using this kit so far and thank goodness for our cutie patooties, Ruby and Henry, because they are such great subjects to photgraph!

My final project is the product spotlight photo display for sale at CTS. It has so much possibilities and each of the designers has altered it with their own unique talents. Not only do we have 3 birthdays but we also have to cram in the last of the season canning, garden clean-up, and all of the fall festivities we can manage. I love October. I love single thing about it. Gabe is at such a fun age right now because he looks forward to our traditions as much as I do.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the month so far. The first is a picture of my brother waiting to give Karisa flowers for homecoming. She was voted Homecoming princess for her Freshman class.
Yesterday we went to the Pumpkin Patch in Terrebonne. The theme of the corn maize was Star Wars this year which is right up Gabe's alley. His cousin Karl got him hooked on Star Wars and the maize was awesome. You go through the space ship to get to the maize entrance.
Dave was pretty happy that Gabe made it to the top of the climbing wall to pose with the Oregon Ducks flag. Poor little Gabe is a Beavers fan and wasn't too happy that he had to climb the Ducks side of the wall!
